Toulouse owes its nickname of « Ville Rose » to the use of brick. Listed as a « local craft » in the south around Toulouse, it has formed part of local heritage from Antiquity to present day. It dresses the façades with warming colours, from soft pinks to the most flamboyant oranges.

In France, VAT can be deducted from the price of goods certain visitors purchase, if their main residence is in a country that is not a member of the European Union or any other country according to the following conditions:
- The visitor must 16 years or over
- The goods must be retail purchases bought by a visitor and cannot be intended for sale elsewhere.
- The visitor must have been in France for less than 6 months.
- The total value of purchases (incl. VAT) in one store on any given day must exceed €175.
